National Odour Research And Management Institute (NORMI) invites short films for its ‘NORMI Short Film Competition–2022’. The competition aims at recognizing the creative efforts towards “Odour related Issues”. The film may be in any technical format. For non-English films, English sub-titles are must. These may be in any Indian language with sub-titles in English. The prize money for the first, second and third best film will be 1,01,000/- 75,000/- and 51,000/- respectively. In addition to three cash awards, 10 Certificate of Excellence along with memento will also be given. The awards will be decided by the jury (to be constituted once final date is over).

The terms and references of the Competition are as follows:

1. Who can compete: Any Indian citizen can send his/her entry. There is no bar on the number of films sent by an individual for competing in the ‘NORMI Short Film Competition – 2022’. However, each application should have one film only. The film(s) being sent for this competition should not be on social media platform. The applicant should attach his/her identity (any one – such as Aadhar Card, Voter Identity Card, PAN Card, Driving License or any other valid proof of identity issued by a Government authority). In case of foreign national, valid passport copy is must.
2. Entry Fee: There is a entry fee of INR 200/-.
3. Theme of the film: *ODOUR RELATED ISSUES*. Each entry should accompany brief theme and synopsis of the film.
4. Language of the film: Any Indian language. In case of Non English, the film shall be supported by English sub-titles.
5. Duration of the film: Duration of the short film should not be less than 3 minutes and not more than 10 minutes.
6. Film format: Short films may be in any form (fiction, documentary, animation, etc) shot with any device or camera set-up in MP4 format. The size of the short film being sent for the competition should not be more than 2 GB.
7. Jury: A Jury will select the winners. For fairness, seven members jury will be constituted after closure of competition.
8. Distribution of Award: In case of the selection of the film for an award, it will be given to the applicant only. The NORMI will, in no way, be responsible for any dispute arising out of it. The NORMI will give the award money through cheque only in the name of the applicant. The award money cheque may be issued in the name of a company or a production house only if it is stated to be so by the applicant in his application form.
9. Undertaking: The applicant in the Performa application will have to give an undertaking as follows: “I .................., son/daughter of ..............., resident of ....................., hereby declare that as the ‘Applicant’, I have the right to send the film, as per details given above, for competing in the ‘NORMI Short Film Competition – 2022. I have read all the terms and conditions of the Competition and agree with them and give the NORMI the right to use the film for any purpose as it deems fit including uploading on its website/social media. In case of any dispute, the onus will be on me only and not the NORMI to deal with the issue at my end”
10. Method to apply:
    1. The applicant should have Gmail account with Google drive access.
    2. Duly filled-in application form along with requisite documents, Film and its themes and synopsis should be uploaded in the folder of Google- drive https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScx-eGxT6O8PzzfJB3P5D-cAFMRdssoee7DN7yaxGkFUF6TQQ/viewform?usp=sf_link with title “‘NORMI Short Film Competition – 2022’, ”. The link of the folder of Google drive should be forwarded through Email on NORMI email: - [email protected] (No hard copy of application or DVD/Pen drive is required). The applicant must write his/her complete postal address, telephone and mobile number in the Email.
11. Mode of dispatch: Entries can be sent online only.
12. Screening Rights: The NORMI, India will have the right to use the films for any purpose it deems fit including uploading these on its website/social media. An undertaking in this regard, as given in the application form, must be duly signed and scanned copy should be uploaded. However, the participants may continue to have their rights on their films and may be free to participate in any other competitions/festivals.
13. Invalid entries: Incomplete forms and entries, not fulfilling the terms and conditions, as above, will be treated as invalid and may not be considered for the competition. However, the NORMI may not return them. In case of multiple entries, only last entry will be considered for the competition.
14. Results: The results of the competition will be uploaded on the website of the Commission, i.e., www.odournormi.org
15. Posters of the film: The applicant of short listed films will be asked to submit poster of the film before announcing the award.
16. Last date – Entries shall be received before 6:00 P.M on 31.05.2022.

* The Themes of short films could be broadly-based on Odour related Issues. The film could be a documentary, dramatization of real or fictional stories or animation. Suggested list of topics is mentioned herein under sub-headings.
